WHATELY -- May 20, 2026, Deerfield Selectboard accepts EMS chief recommendation and four staff resignations in abbreviated session. Meeting without Chair Blake present, the two-member board, including Trevor McDaniel, unanimously authorized the town administrator to negotiate with Tim Drumgoole for the South County EMS Chief position following a unanimous recommendation from the South County EMS Board of Oversight, with any agreement required to return to the board for final approval. The board also accepted the resignations of Town Planner Alex Galloway effective June 12, Town Clerk Cassie Jerome effective June 3, Alex Hirschenredder effective May 29, and Annalee Wolfcoul from the Historical Commission effective May 18. In a related action, the board voted to retitle the vacant planning and economic development coordinator role to "town planner" before recruiting, citing better candidate appeal. DPW Chief Matthew Morris separately secured a state rural roads grant of approximately $239,000 for a new road grader, covering a capital purchase the town had no budget for.
