Whately's Select Board tabled a motion to open the warrant for a Nov. 16 special town meeting, pushing items like a senior center budget shortfall toward the spring annual meeting instead. Board members Trevor McDaniel, Chris Cinelli and Blake Gilmore said none of the roughly four pending items, including a $5,600 senior center budget hole, an accessory dwelling unit zoning update, a police retirement-age waiver and a wastewater truck purchase, was urgent enough to justify the roughly $2,000 cost of the meeting. "We're just going to let it die," one member said of the warrant motion.
The board separately approved a license correction naming paramedic Andy Jacobs full-time rather than per diem, approved a one-day liquor license for a Nov. 13 Yankee Candle Village tree lighting event, and heard from Treehouse Brewing Company and DMS Sports about a 2027 half marathon targeting 3,500 total participants, up from roughly 900 finishers this year.
