WHATELY -- April 6, 2026, Conway Selectboard unanimously appoints a Planning Board member and endorses state dark skies legislation. The board voted without dissent Monday to seat Phyllis Crane on the Planning Board through June 30, 2026, the end of the fiscal year; Crane was set to be sworn in Tuesday before a scheduled Planning Board meeting. The board also voted to send a letter to the state legislature backing Senate Bill 2243 and House Bill 3494, described as an act to improve outdoor lighting and increase dark sky visibility, citing the town's existing program of retiring street lights as context. In informal discussion, members said they have consulted town counsel about options for protecting open space along Conway Station Road, identifying land associated with a property owner named Bill Graves as the only potentially unprotected parcel on that corridor.
