Conway Board Signs Fire Safety Grant, Appoints FCAT Representative
Select Board · Meeting of February 17, 2026
WHATELY — Conway Select Board unanimously approved a $10,500 firefighter safety grant and appointed a board member to the regional access TV board at its February 17 joint meeting with the Finance Committee. New Fire Chief Herman, presenting his first budget, said the grant would fund a commercial washer and dryer at the new fire building, a fire-service priority given gear contaminated by PFAS. The board also unanimously appointed absent member Erica Goldman as Conway's representative to FCAT, the Franklin County Area Technology organization celebrating its 20-year anniversary.
Town Treasurer-Collector Sean requested an increase in his weekly hours from 30 to 36 and his assistant Jolene's from 18 to 24, citing software failures, assessor data errors, and added workload. The most consequential budget number of the evening: Department 900 shared costs, including a projected 20 percent health insurance increase, are tracking toward a 12.87 percent rise over the adjusted FY26 base of $745,100.
